A friend once described Jim Wroten as a Tinkerer. According to thefreedictionary.com, I am "a person who enjoys fixing and experimenting with machines and their parts." The description seems to fit.

His interests include woodworking, electronics, audio and video production, photography, music production, software development and systems analysis (his actual career for many years). This website presents some of the current "tinkering" and will be updated periodically to show recent progress. A summary of these projects is shown below.

Photography

A lifelong photographer, Jim Wroten's collection is presented here. The collections includes archival photographs from Jim and Anne's family, vacation photos, photo projects, and local attractions.

EarthCam Cameras

Two cameras sit outside of our apartment and show views from our building in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY. Current time, temperature and conditions are shown. One of the cameras shows a south view, the other an east view These cameras are linked to Earthcam as well: South Camera, East Camera.

Purple Air

I recently installed a Purple Air sensor. This citizen scientist program provides people the capability to collect air quality data and share it with the community, providing more data points than an individual alone could realize. The sensor for this location is on this link, named Bay Ridge.

Buoy Project

The National Data Buoy Center(NDBC) publishes an RSS feed on buoy data. I have subscribed to the buoy data within 30 nautical miles of my location in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY. I capture this data and display it here.

Personal Weather Station

I've setup a few sensors and have them connected to Weather Underground, joining their sensor network. Read here details of the station I have setup. If you'd like more info, please contact me (see Contact Me).
